The chapter addresses the question whether the Hungarian minority in Transylvania be considered part of the Romanian political community. The chapter compares several of the more significant contentions found in the secondary literature regarding the notion of political community with the image that emerges from the polls and other forms of identity research of the past ten-fifteen years on the ethnic fault lines within the Romanian political community. The chapter also addresse the foreseeable impact of the simplified procedure of obtaining Hungarian citizenship on the majority-minority relations in Romania.
