A think-tank for democratic values!

16 months of mandate as a member of Corina Murafa’s European Economic and Social Committee, CSD expert 

The Center for the Study of Democracy is pleased to publish Corina Murafa’s activity report, which, in a period of 16 months, has successfully represented the Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD) within the European Economic and Social Committee (EES). With the support of more than 40 NGOs dedicated to sustainability and environmental protection, Corina Murafa has been selected in a transparent process to make an essential contribution to European policies.

Active representation and significant results

During her term, Corina Murafa had an intense activity, participating in all the plenary sessions and sections of which she is a part. His achievements include:

  • more than 20 interventions in the EESC plenary, interacting directly with European commissioners and other high-level leaders;
  • two important opinions as rapporteur, one on the elimination of subsidies for fossil fuels and another on the promotion of clean technologies in Europe;
  • three coordinated opinions as chairman of the study group, a role that requires consensus in the EESC;
  • involvement in 13 other opinions within the study groups;
  • Participation in eight high-level international events as an EESC’s official representative;
  • Organizing and participating in five national events to ensure a constant dialogue with the citizens and NGOs in Romania.

A connecting bridge between Brussels and Romania

 She collaborated closely not only with her colleagues from the Center for the Study of Democracy, the organization that supported her candidacy, but also with numerous Romanian activists and experts, whose perspectives she tried to bring to the attention of decision-makers from Brussels

With the support of a newly obtained mini-grant from the European Climate Foundation, this partnership will be even better structured, ensuring effective two-way collaboration.
